Welcome to the 9th edition of “Stuff I Like”, where I talk about products, people, services or shows that I like. I have no financial relationships with any of these companies/brands. Whether you get them or not – I don’t care.

Better Chocolates

Original source: here.

In my article on my favourite cheat meals, you learned what a choc-o-holic I am. Well, there’s a new chocolate in town, and it’s great! It’s a healthy version of chocolate. But unlike most junk food that’s “healthed up”, which loses its delicious taste, that’s not the case with Better Chocolates. They’re healthy and tasty.

While they have different products, with different ingredients, most of their chocolates are a legitimate fibre source – one of the most important ingredients for diabetics.

Different products of theirs are infused with different things – from vitamins D and B12, to collagen (for hair/skin/nails), to other things.

To add to it, the founder of this bar is none other than Suzie Yorke – the same entrepreneur who founded the famous Good Fats Bars.

And personally, I have a problem with chocolate. Once I start, I don’t stop until it’s finished. Better Chocolates takes care of that. When I finish one, I’m satisfied. Content. And I can stop, even if there’s more left.

Because of that, I give Better Chocolates the thumbs up!

Amino Snacks

Original source: here.

I was recently presenting at a personal training conference, and was walking around the trade show in between my lectures.

I like to see the silly equipment that’s about to be released to the market, and to sample any cool new foods coming out. But that was my only intention – sampling. Not buying.

However, when I sample the Amino Snacks, I was thoroughly impressed. Just like Better Chocolates, they’re both healthy and tasty. They have 2 flavours: peanut butter chocolate and caramel macchiato. The caramel macchiato flavour blew my mind. It tasted heavenly.

It’s basically a ball of almond and peanut butter, with coconut sprinkles all around, but flavoured like caramel macchiato. To die for.

Not only that, it also has a whopping 5 grams of fibre (on par with blueberries and blackberries).

In my diabetes book, I explain how fibre (not carbohydrates) is one of the most important factors when it comes to blood sugar management. That’s why I can comfortably recommend Amino Snacks to my diabetic clients as well.

MrBeast

Original source: here.

If you haven’t heard of MrBeast, he’s basically the biggest YouTuber. His real name is Jimmy Donaldson. At the time of this writing, he has 178 million subscribers (and growing rapidly). And for good reason – his videos are highly entertaining. Like:

…and a bunch of others.

But besides the entertainment value (and the ridiculously high production value), he’s a legitimately good guy, with a giant heart. Despite making according to some sources $40 million from YouTube per year, he doesn’t have a giant house or a flashy car. He gives most of it away to charity, or uses it to make the world a better place. For instance:

…and a bunch of other acts of kindness, on his separate YouTube channel, called “Beast Philanthropy.”

Chia Jam

Original source: here.

I don’t like shopping for most things. But I do like shopping for groceries, to see what’s new out there. And a few months ago, I discovered Chia Jam, by a company called “Healthy Crunch.”

Being in the health field, I always look at the label of new foods.

Despite being delicious, the reason that I don’t buy regular jam is the obvious – it ain’t that healthy. But when I looked at the label of Chia Jam, I was pleasantly surprised, for a bunch of reasons:

  • The first ingredient in regular jam is sugar. The first ingredient in Chia Jam is whatever fruit it’s based on. So if it’s blueberry jam, the first ingredient is plain ol’ blueberries.
  • For jam, the calories are really low – only 25 calories per tablespoon.
  • The fibre is just out of this world – 4 grams per tablespoon

And as the theme is with the products I like, it doesn’t sacrifice taste for health. It’s both – tasty and healthy.
